First Warsaw Golf awarded Best Golf Course in Poland
First Warsaw Golf has been once again voted “The Best Golf Course in Poland” according to the country’s leading golf website polishgolf.pl, with votes coming from all golfers in Poland and the final vote casted from the TOP 3 by a 35 “Jurors” comprised of the most respectable PZG Board Members, golf owners, golf directors and PGA professionals.
Earlier in 2016 First Warsaw Golf, who was voted TOP 3 in CEE, and largely known as one of the most beautiful courses in Europe, has undergone major face lift which took the golf community by surprise. Following USGA and European Tour specification 100% of the course bunkers were replaced or redesigned including much of the fairways and tee areas.
With the recent changes and the addition of the black tees that takes the course to above 7,000 yards we are ready to host all European Tour tournaments
added Mr. Jacek Sidzina, FWG Chief Marketing & Business Officer.
It is true that First Warsaw Golf was a Tour Destination, however we are standing the test of time by for ever evolving and keeping one step a head.
First Warsaw members are accustomed to see drastic improvements and changes each year in pursuit of its President goal of becoming one of the finest golf courses in Europe. First Warsaw Golf featuring prominently in Poland’s national golf awards, is another landmark in the club’s long history being the first golf club in Poland.
Tomek Iwan, Director of the Polish National Football Team did not seem to be surprised. As expected, he said
I am a golf intuits and love playing many golf courses around Poland. I chose First Warsaw Golf for myself and the Polish National Football Team to be Ambassador of the course as for me its the most exciting and beautiful course in Poland and probably one of the most challenging I have ever played.
Mr. Mariusz Czerkawski agreed and stated that First Warsaw Golf is a magical place which I call home. I often experience its unique beauty in the early down when most people are sleeping. As an early bird you get to smell the fresh cuts of the grass the mist. Its walk in the forest but the forest is a golf course.
We were very touched by the passion that First Warsaw members speak of the course. We had to ask “What makes this golf course so unique ?” Mr. Adam Guz, the author of the new novel „19 dołków czyli jak ukraść spółkę“ (19 holes how to steal a company) and a member, he replied:
The course is demanding, for ever challenging, and never boring. You get off the course with one thought – when am I back ?. There are single and zero HCP (very good players), players that play this course for decades and hundred times per year and still have the same thought of coming next day.
This is an extremely unique attributes reserved only to the greatest golf courses”.
When visiting First Warsaw Golf one can spot some national figures who made First Warsaw their home. Robert Lewandowski, Tomek Iwan, Wojtek Szczęsny, Mateusz Kusznierewicz, Mariusz Czerkawski, Jerzy Dudek, Michał and Mateusz Ligocki are some of the fantastic members First Warsaw Golf are very proud of. Yet, do not expect to be allowed to take photographs or ask for signatures. Front desk manager Iza Twaróg explains: “Members are coming to relax, spend time with friends and be themselves. This should be respected. But if you ask very politely members never refuse”, she says with a smile.
We were finally introduced to the “Architect” of the success Mr. Nimrod K. Tavi. Mr. Tavi was named the “Most Powerful Person in Polish Golf” last year along with some other titles, which followed his name while interviewing his peers.
„I am very humbled as always to be receiving such an award. There are some amazing courses in Poland, not all of which I had the privilege of playing.
What set us a part is First Warsaw’s “stroke of genius” design, nature and lay of the land. As a matter of fact I have played other courses in Poland in which the course condition was better than mine. One may say equally deserving the title.
To be truly a part in each aspect, I have taken Mr. Greg Swanson, a world known Director of Agronomy as the new “Head Green Keeper“.
Once the course conditions will equal its design I expect to be on the short list of the best courses in Europe”.
Not a humble quest we thought but one that we are convinced that the “Most Powerful Person in Polish Golf” has set his mind to achieve.
Good luck.
